I. QUALIFYING TOURNAMENTS
1. ELIGIBILITY
The Qualifying Tournaments are open to all male and female golfers, who are citizens of mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan, and
(1) Are not otherwise qualified for the Volvo China Open at Beijing HongHua Golf Club from the 13-16 April 2006 AND
(2) Are professional golfers, who are qualified as such through the China Golf Association or who are members of another recognized PGA. OR
(3) Have a USGA MEN’S Handicap Index of 3.0 or less (or a USGA Ladies Handicap Index of 1.0 or less) as issued by the any recognized Golf Association, recognized provincial or city golf association or recognized golf club.
2. FORMAT
Gross stroke play over 36 holes.
3. VENUE AND SCHEDULE
A Player can only participate at one venue. These are:
(1) SOUTHERN CHINA: Dongguan Harbour Plaza Golf Club Monday 20th March: Practice Day Tuesday 21st March: 1st Round Wednesday 22nd March: 2nd Round OR
(2) MID CHINA: Shanghai Silport Golf Club Monday 27th March : Practice Day Tuesday 28th March : 1st Round Wednesday 29th March : 2nd Round OR
(3) NORTHERN CHINA: Beijing CBD International Golf Club Monday 3rd April : Practice Day Tuesday 4th April: 1st Round Wednesday 5th April : 2nd Round
4. FIELD
Maximum number of players in the Regional Qualifying Tournaments is 450
Maximum field at each venue is 150.
5. TEES
All competitors (male and female) will play from the same tees assigned at each venue.
6. RULES OF GOLF
Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf of the R&A Rules Limited, as well the Chinese version published by China Golf Association, and the Local Rules of the host Club as set by the Tournament Committee. These Local Rules will be made available to players at the starting tee or tees of each course.
7. QUALIFICATION TO THE VOLVO CHINA OPEN AT BEIJING HONGHUA GOLF CLUB
Ten players will qualify for the Volvo China Open at BEIJING HONGHUA GOLF CLUB. They will consist of the two leading gross scores from each venue. The final 4 places will be allocated to a venue or venues based on the percentage of overall entries received by 10th March 2006 (0.5 and above will be rounded up, below 0.5 will be rounded down). The next lowest gross score or scores at the venue or venues to which the place or places is allocated will qualify. Information on places allocated to each venue will be posted on www.volvochinaopen.com by 15th March 2006.
8. DECISION ON TIES
In the case of a tie at a venue for a place in the Volvo China Open at BEIJING HONGHUA GOLF CLUB, this will be decided by sudden death play off immediately after the 36 holes.
9. PRIZE
PROFESSIONALS at each venue:
1st RMB 15,000
2nd RMB 10,000
3rd RMB 7,500
4th RMB 4,000
5th RMB 2,500
6th RMB 1,000
Amateurs at each venue: The leading three receive a Waterford Crystal Trophy
10. SUSPENSION OF PLAY
If it is not possible to achieve 18 holes during the day at any of the Qualifying Tournaments, play may continue the following day. If play is not possible on the following day then that particular Qualifying Tournament will be rescheduled.
11. REMARKS
Should a player who qualifies for the Volvo China Open at BEIJING HONGHUA GOLF CLUB notify the Tournament Committee that he or she is unable to participate then the place will be offered to the next in line (first alternate) of the leading scores from that venue. Should there have been a tie among those scores designated as first alternate, then the leading score to qualify will be decided on a count back over the last 9 holes and last 6, last 3, last 1 hole if deemed necessary. Should the first alternate not be able to participate further then the spot will be offered to the second alternate on the same basis or until an alternate as found who can participate in the Volvo China Open
12. THE DECISION OF THE VOLVO CHINA OPEN COMMITTEE IN ALL MATTERS WILL BE FINAL.
II. ENTRIES
1. SUBMISSION OF ENTRY FORMS
a) Professionals shall fax the completed entry form with a contact address, and proof of recognition by the China Golf Association or a recognized PGA.
b) Amateurs shall fax the completed entry form including their contact address, and proof of USGA Handicap Index together with verification from China Golf Association, other recognized golf association or golf club.
2. ENTRY FEE: US$70/RMB570.
Applicants should fax the entry form to the tournament office on or before 10th of March 2006. After the tournament office has received the entry forms, the tournament office will post the applicant’s name on the website to confirm receipt of entry. The tournament office will post all qualified applicants information on the Volvo China Open website 3 days after entries close. ALL APPLICANTS SHOULD CHECK IF THEIR APPLICATION IS SUCCESSFUL. The tournament office will also send out a Entry Notice TO SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS AFTER THE ENTRIES CLOSE. Applicants should settle the entry fee at the venue before play This payment covers entry for Pre Qualifying tournaments and the Volvo China Open for those successful qualifiers. The player’s entry is final confirmed as final only after the entry fee has been received.
3. REMARKS
All entries are subject to the approval of the Tournament Committee which reserves the right to accept or refuse, or having accepted, subsequently reject any entry without giving reason for its decision.
The Tournament Committee may disqualify any player giving false information on his or her entry form or on accompanying credentials, and will report to CGA.
Should more than 450 entries be received then those amateurs with the highest handicap index will be withdrawn from the Pre Qualifying Tournaments and so on until 450 players are determined.
Where players have the same handicap index, withdrawal shall be based on date of entry. Regarding decisions on withdrawal, the committee classify women on USGA handicap index 1.0 the same as men on USGA handicap index 3.0.
No refund will be made to any successful applicants.

III. REGISTRATION
For each tournament players are required to register by 3 pm. on the day prior to the tournament (that is the practice day). |
